My name is Helen and I’m a craftaholic. I’m not happy unless I’m making something. But I often wonder why crafting in the UK (and in the US for that matter) is so…well, twee? I don’t care if I never see another butterfly, flower or spotted ribbon again…
So if that hasn’t put you off…
I run Gyre&Gimble, an arts and crafts supplies store which links with the classes and workshops we run in Sheffield. We are in Phase 1 – get the thing off the ground, and so far have run some really fun classes in Crochet and bead jewellery. More classes are planned this autumn and winter in Chain Maille jewellery (my current LOVE IT craft), more crochet and watercolour painting.
Gyre & Gimble stands for all things crafty – our aim is to get people creating, releasing their artistic potential and having fun at the same time. We have craft supplies so you can go it alone and classes to learn new skills and meet like-minded crafters.
Soon we’ll have a weekend drop-in studio where you can use the tools and make something fabulous whilst enjoying some scrummy cake.
Our kits and other bits and bobs are on sale in Sheffield in The Vault on Abbeydale Road, and Airy Fairy on London Road. Come and say hi.
I’m always on the look out for tutors, so if you’ve years of experience in your particular craft, and love to teach people, then get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org. In particular I’m after people who can teach lace making or screen printing/lino printing.
Check out the Sheffield crafter’s sites on the main page – I’ll keep adding them as I discover them.
Thanks for visiting, happy crafting xxx
